I would consider myself to be a bit tech-tarded….. That is er um, “technically challenged” when it comes to computers and social media and websites, blogging, writing, etc.
Coaching is BIG business these days. Hiring a coach, mentor or professional in a field you’re not familiar with but NEED can be so incredibly empowering, to the point for me that I’m actually getting tasks done that I set out to do years ago. Everyone is better at doing “something” than someone else. That of course comes with gained knowledge, education and experience. I talk about having a lack of time a lot and that’s because most of us have so so much going on, 24 hours in a day just isn’t usually enough. Well, it was high time I decided to get some help.
I met my helping hand, Jan Verhoeff on Facebook. We were “liking” a lot of the same posts – so I figured we had similar tastes and so decided to try a chat with her. Soon thereafter, we met for coffee and that turned into a friendship and now a professional arrangement as well. Jan is a fabulous help for me. She’s not only well versed in what she does but is kind and has a caring way about her that makes me feel not so “challenged”.
I have always wanted to write. Way way back in the day (high school days), I was a pretty darn good English student. I would write great book reports and even dabbled with poetry. Well, life goes on, and for me, I lost hope of ever writing a blog or a book, or articles. But, here I am, giving it my “just getting started” best and you know what?!? It feels good! I have a great teacher and can picture myself actually writing that book one day. They say everyone has a book in them, right? Look for mine when it comes out, it will be a doozie – you won’t believe some of the adventures I’ve been on! One thing I know is that I’m actually starting to have fun with writing, even the little that I do – for now.
Even if it’s a stretch financially (it’s not all that expensive really) or it seems as though it’ll be harder to explain to someone than actually learn how to do it yourself (that was me for a long time), I have found that it’s much much better to help yourself and hire an expert. You never know, it might start out small, like just setting up a blog. OR, it could end up BIG and you end up writing a book or getting famous! It took me many years of struggling to get to this place of reaching out and I am so glad I did! In this case… Frustration = Hiring the Expert.
A special thank you to my friend and webmaster, coach, mentor, helper – Jan Verhoeff. I am so glad we met! You are a great friend, listener and writer!
Now, we all might be able to coach, teach, help someone or others in areas that we have more knowledge and experience in. I love helping others.
What do you like helping others with? How are you a coach? Please feel free to let me know… You never know… I might be writing a book 🙂
