It’s becoming more and more well known that stress is one of the leading causes of disease, and, for women, stress is a BIG part of many of our lives. I don’t need to go into a big dissertation about women and all of the many jobs we have and do – you probably already know all that. But, what you might not know about is EFT.
One of the best exercises I’ve used for many things, including stress, is Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) or what most call “tapping”. EFT is a treatment which combines ancient Chinese acupressure with modern psychology. This technique can also reduce cortisol levels in the body and counteract not only stress but overweight problems in the long run.

AND, EFT is one the easiest and most powerful personal growth tools known of today. With EFT, we can quickly release and clear blockages in our bodies, thereby balancing ourselves simply by rubbing and tapping on acupuncture points. You can gain much happiness, better health and personal satisfaction using EFT AND get rid of stress, anger, conflicts, fears and more very effectively.
I like to think of EFT as the psychological form of acupuncture but without the needles.
EFT is gaining in popularity and most recently is being used by those with PTSD, like soldiers coming home from serving in the war and those that have had a traumatic experience such as being raped. There are no adverse side effects and it works 80% of the time.
Although certain “issues” can take longer to release than others, it’s really about tuning into the source or root of the problem. For instance, when I was first exposed to EFT, I started working on one problem/issue in my life and while doing so, another issue popped up. This new “issue” was one at more of the “root” or core of the problem of which I promptly tapped on for major release and healing.

Have a strong negative emotion that revolves around a certain memory? This has caused an imbalance in your body’s energy system. Our bodies are lined with meridians and these meridians are where our life force energy runs. A disruption causes imbalances which results in the symptom such as anxiety, grief, fear, etc. It’s a vicious circle BUT it CAN be BROKEN. Many times, the exercise of tapping on a negative state or memory is only required one time.
Step 2. Take a distress level test on how bad it is right now … Pick a number from 0-10, 10 being the highest or most intense/worse.
Step 3. This is the Set Up … State: “Even though (I have this problem – state the problem), I deeply and completely love and accept myself” … Say this 3 times (either out loud or silently) while tapping the karate chop point (outside of your palms).
Step 4. While using a keyword or words (ie, this pain in my leg), using 2 fingers, lightly and rapidly tap each of the points 7-10 times starting from:
Point 1-the inside of the eyebrows),
Point 2 – on the bone near your eye/temple, then
Point 3 – under your eye(s)
Point 4 – under your nose
Point 5 – in the crease of your chin
Point 6 – just below your collar bone
Point 7 – your side where a bra strap would be
Point 8 – the top of your head
Step 5. Recheck level of discomfort or stress (physical or emotionally attached). If it’s gone down significantly from the original reading of 0-10, then go on to Step 6.
If little or no progress has been made and the level remains high, take a moment to evaluate if something else came up in your thoughts while tapping on the original subject matter. Either way, return to Step 1 and start with the original discomfort or whatever else may have come up. For instance “I knew I should not have run today and that’s why my knee hurts.”
Redo the Set Up: “Even though I knew I shouldn’t have run today and my knee hurts, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
Step 6. While tapping the karate chop point, change the set up:
“Even though there is still some of this problem (knee hurting) remaining, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
Return to Step 4 and run through the tapping points using key word(s) like “remaining pain.”
Step 7. If after using the new setup in Step 6 the discomfort level remains above 0-1, tap the karate chop point while repeating:
“I really choose to get completely over this problem (knee pain) and I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
Return to Step 4 using keywords “completely over this problem (put in pain or whatever discomfort is).”
